IMPORTANT UPDATE as at 19th August 2020: ScreenSafe COVID 19 Health and Safety Protocols including Level 2/3 Alert Level information now available here
UPDATE as of 12th August 2020 – IMPORTANT ADDENDUM FROM WORKSAFE: WorkSafe have confirmed that our ScreenSafe alert level procedure should remain the same with the addition of using masks. This means any work in the greater Auckland area will follow level 3 protocols and guidelines and the rest of New Zealand to follow level 2 until further information form the Government/Ministry of Health. Your health and safety is paramount so we ask you to all to ensure that you add the wearing of Masks for everyone, at every alert level above Level 1. Government recommendations are that wearing of masks where ever possible and where physical distancing is not achievable. So all crew, agency/client, visitors and talent whilst off screen should be wearing masks as best practice.
As it is not possible to wear masks whilst on screen we should still be allowed to film talent as per guidelines around each level, but please note this is also subject to all other control measures around hygiene and non-contact as per each Level of the guidelines.
It is now mandatory for any business or service to display the QR code for the tracing app at all entry points. Businesses have till Wednesday 19th August to comply. Download your posters here.

Please note – the ScreenSafe H&S Standard and Protocols have been endorsed by WorkSafe and can be used by the Screen Sector as minimum standards and guidelines for planning your return to work and return to shooting.
To be clear – each Production Company and Production can draw on these documents, but must create their own individualised Health and Safety Plan and Site plans that are particular and unique to their requirements and to each site on which they intend to shoot.
The Protocols in particular must be viewed as a living document – they have been developed to support and assist you in eliminating or minimising the risk of exposure for all personnel to Covid-19, and in meeting your obligations under the Health and Safety Workplace Act 2015 – however, each Production Company and PCBU must have their own procedures in place to manage this risk, and must work to continually assess and manage the risk of infection transmission, both across the production and at an individual level.
The Protocols will be reviewed regularly as all PCBU’s assess and manage their operations and how these protocols work in practice, from crew to talent to producers.
*WorkSafe New Zealand has assessed this guidance and
is satisfied that it meets their expectations for management
of COVID-19-related risks in the workplace.
